This week we had a guest from Canada visiting. Well, not an official guest really, it was my sister’s sister in law. Or my brother in law’s sister…for the purpose of less confusion we decided I will refer to her as my sister in law and go into the details if anyone cared to ask for them. She comes to visit us once a year or so and since she has a wedding coming up we were excited to have her here to chat about all the excitement. The day before she was leaving, we went down to San Clemente for a lovely BBQ and a nice walk on the beach. Unfortunately, the weather was not bikini friendly and we barely made it home before the rain caught up with us. Nonetheless, I love visiting that area. There is something about the very southern end of California’s coast that is so inviting and  low key yet different from sunny LA beach towns.  I am sure the weather will be much more cooperative  when we see each other again in September. This time, in Toronto for that special day!

Oh, there they were..

Ahhh, I love discovering new editing apps! This  gives me an opportunity to play around with my old images which means one thing. Yup, you guessed it- Nooooostalgiaaaa! This time it was NY Fashion Week in February.. chilly but then again, it wouldn’t be NYC without being inspiring!

Cirque de la mode

Sometimes, life brings  a circumstance your way in order to make sure you are exactly where you’re suppose to be. Recently, I started to contribute to an amazing UK website Your Coffee Break. When the editor send me the first assignment, I couldn’t believe my luck. I was going to go to my alma mater, CSUN fashion show “Cirque de la mode”! It seems like just yesterday I was one of those graduating designers who had worked until my fingers bled to create a collection and present it in front of friends, professors and other fashion pros. Very few of us make it out to our university campus after graduation and here was my chance, not to just visit but to see the newest generation present their work. Besides hanging out at the VIP lounge and chatting up with my ex professors I got to sit front row and enjoy the show from the best spot in the house. I am so proud of all the creative talent that will be soon hitting the fashion market! Go CSUN, way to show it FIDM..:-)

Vogue for the kiddos

Before I left Paris I made sure I got my latest Vogue for the road. The thing about the French Vogue is that they love to put in little surprises inside, like the Vogue Enfants- French Children’s Vogue. Now, I might not have kids but the editorials in that issue are so well styled, I can’t help but to keep it in my archives for inspiration. No wonder the French kiddos grow up to be the chic Parisians inspiring the runways…

Healthy Tuesday

I know I don’t usually do food entries, but today I was so inspired by my urge to make a healthy dinner that I thought I would share (ok, brag) with you. Last year my family finally got a plot in the local garden community, after 5 years of being on the waiting list ( my idea, of course. Oops, bragging again…). We were all very excited that we will now get to grow our own veggies and hang out in the garden..But of course, with my random trips across the world, I have not been there once besides the initial first visit.

Today my mom finally picked our very full heads of lettuce, an abundance in fact. I got so excited that I ran to the store and got all my favorite veggies, like avocados and courgettes. I used the lettuce and radish from our garden and added all kinds of goodies. After eating all the baguettes and cheese in Paris for almost a year, a salad for dinner is just what I need if I want to get into beach season shape! (A glass of wine, however, was in no way excluded, that is a Parisian habit I refuse to let go). My concoction was a great success and I am not ashamed that I did not leave anything for lunch tomorrow..But then again, thankfully there is plenty of it where that came from.

Nasty Gal’s new collection

Most of my favorite blogs are usually run by independent bloggers but there are some apparel companies that really raise the bar when it comes to their own original content. One of those sites is Nasty Gal, a website that sells vintage and original pieces. They recently launched a new collection of 25 pieces together with very similar Aussie site MINKPINK. Even though most of the clothes would not be ideal for my body shape (hello, tight mini dress!) these images really make me want to slap them on my inspirational board. The bright colors and fun shapes are perfect for spring! They really make me want to run in the fields and ..throw around pink powder?

Picture nostalgia

It will be one week since I have returned to LA from Paris tomorrow and I still can’t believe I am here.  Needless to say my mind and heart are still there, but I am slowly getting into my daily routine .. (ok, so I still have one suitcase to unpack..I’m working on it!) But its LA Fashion Week starting tomorrow so I will stay busy and inspired while trying to adapt to my yet again, new environment. Until then, I am living in nostalgia as I organize the hundreds of images I snapped during my “almost a year in Paris”…Like one of my last walks in Montmartre..
