Alber Elbaz for Lanvin
Alber Elbaz has taken over Lanvin in 2002 as the creative director and the designer house has never been the same. With a Spanish artist for a mother and an Israeli barber for a father, its no surprise that Alber is one creative romantic. In 1998 he took over designing from Saint Laurent himself at YSL and stayed there until Gucci Group took control and Tom Ford stepped in. Elbaz went on to design the epitome of Persian chic- the ultra feminine cocktail dress. Along came the jewelery and handbag collections that have been making Lanvin the favorite of Anne Hatheway, Cameron Diaz and those alike.
The latest: On November 20th, get your comfy Lanvin flats on and prepare to stand in line at your closest H&M store. Lanvin is collaborating with the Swedish retailer bringing an exclusive line for men and women at affordable prices.
If I get one question…
Q: Is designing difficult for you?
AE: In theory, designing should not be difficult. In reality unfortunately, it is. So, it’s not easy being me. My drive is to perfect the last collection, which I never find perfect. I guess it’s the search for perfection from season to season that moves me forward. The moment I find perfection i guess I’ll retire.
